Cox’s Bazar sea beach has turned vibrant with an influx of tourists during the extended holidays marking Independence Day and Eid. The vast sandy stretches and blue waters are crowded with visitors seeking leisure and celebration.
Tourists, accompanied by their families, are enjoying a swim in the sea and spending time along the shore, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. The combination of the Eid holiday, Independence Day, and the weekly break has led to a steady stream of visitors.
A visit to the Sugandha point on Thursday afternoon showed families and groups of tourists engaging in various activities. Some were walking along the sandy beach, while others were taking photographs with loved ones. Many expressed joy at being able to spend quality time together during the long holidays.
Zahid, a tourist visiting Cox’s Bazar, said, “We have explored several places, including Inani Beach and nearby attractions. We came with family and are having a wonderful time. We arrived on Wednesday and plan to stay for a couple more days.”
He added that, apart from the main beach, there are many beautiful places in the surrounding areas, each with its own charm, though Sugandha beach remains his favourite.
To ensure the safety and smooth movement of visitors, lifeguards and tourist police have maintained strict vigilance along the shoreline. A three-tier security system has been put in place.
Sea Safe Lifeguard Service manager Imtiaz Ahmed said that a large number of tourists had gathered at the beach during the Independence Day holiday following Eid. “We have deployed a three-layer safety system, including observation towers, beach patrols, and water-based monitoring, to ensure the safety of tourists,” he said.
Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Zone inspector Zahidul Islam said that the beach remains safe for tourists, with multiple police booths, mobile teams, and station-based units working round the clock to ensure maximum security.
Abul Kashem Sikder, president of the Cox’s Bazar Residential Hotel-Motel-Guest House Owners Association, told a news agency that at least seven lakh tourists have visited Cox’s Bazar over the past five days, from the day after Eid till today, with an additional 2 lakh visitors expected by Saturday.
