Although the intensity of winter has begun to ease in Cox’s Bazar on the first day of February, dense fog continued to blanket the city during the early morning hours, disrupting normal life.
While sunshine was visible during the day, thick fog covered Cox’s Bazar town, the Marine Drive and coastal areas at dawn and in the morning.
Reduced visibility caused inconvenience for pedestrians and vehicle drivers, affecting traffic movement and daily activities.
On the Marine Drive in the morning, visibility was terrible due to fog, making it difficult to see even short distances ahead.
The sea beach also appeared veiled in mist, with the blue waters hidden under a layer of fog, prompting tourists to remain cautious.
Rafiqul Islam, a pedestrian in Cox’s Bazar town, said, “Although the cold is not as severe as before, it still feels biting in the morning. Moving around becomes difficult because of the fog.”
Another pedestrian, Shirin Akhtar, said, “I feel scared when taking my child to school early in the morning. The fog makes it hard to see clearly.”
According to sources at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, the intensity of winter is expected to gradually decrease from early February.
However, fog may persist during the early morning hours for a few more days.
They added that temperatures are likely to rise gradually in the coming days, with weather conditions returning to normal soon.
