A video conference was held at the Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner’s office on Saturday to strengthen coordinated efforts to prevent dengue as part of the 2026 dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan presided over the conference, attended by officials from the district health department and representatives of relevant government offices.
The meeting stressed destroying potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, conducting regular cleanliness drives, removing stagnant water and raising public awareness. It also called for stronger coordination among government and private institutions and all relevant departments to prevent the spread of dengue.
Cox’s Bazar Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Shaber said public awareness was as important as the health department’s efforts in preventing dengue.
He urged people to prevent water from accumulating around their homes and workplaces and to regularly clean potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, free dengue testing is available at all government health facilities in Cox’s Bazar, while private health facilities offer tests at government-fixed prices.
The health department has advised people with fever or other dengue symptoms to get tested promptly and seek medical advice.
People have also been urged to keep their homes, workplaces and surrounding areas clean, remove stagnant water and destroy potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Health officials said greater public awareness and coordinated efforts by all concerned could help prevent the spread of dengue.
