Cox’s Bazar district administration will organise a three-day cultural programme from September 25 to 27 to mark World Tourism Day 2026, with the events to be held at the open-air stage at Laboni Point in the town.
World Tourism Day is observed every year on September 27. This year’s theme is “Tourism of the Future: Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence.”
The district administration said the programme aims to highlight Cox’s Bazar’s tourism potential and local culture while promoting a safer, cleaner and more tourist-friendly environment.
The programme will begin on Friday, September 25, with folk music, a fire show and a band performance.
A programme titled “Musical Night by Sayeman” will be held on Saturday, September 26.
On Sunday, September 27, the main day of World Tourism Day, the programme will feature a Rakhine dance performance followed by a closing cultural evening.
The district administration has invited local residents, domestic and international tourists and people from all sections of society to attend the events.
Cox’s Bazar is one of Bangladesh’s major tourist destinations, known for its long sea beach, hills and diverse cultural heritage. The district administration said it was working to improve tourism services, ensure tourist safety and promote the use of technology for sustainable tourism.
The administration also called for coordinated efforts among hotels and motels, tour operators, businesses, local communities and public and private organisations to further develop Cox’s Bazar as a safe, clean and tourist-friendly destination.
It urged everyone to cooperate in maintaining a tourism-friendly environment and preserving Cox’s Bazar’s reputation as a major tourist destination.
