Nestled along the Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar, Pechardwip has turned into a paradise for red crabs this winter.
On the soft, golden dunes beside the blue sea, thousands of scarlet crabs scurry freely—creating a breathtaking natural spectacle that draws both locals and tourists from across the country.
As the morning sun touches the sandy shore, an extraordinary scene unfolds—countless red crabs suddenly emerge and scatter across the beach in a wave of motion and color.
Tourists are amazed by how quickly they move on the soft sand and how bright red they are.
Local fishermen say that November to January is the prime season to witness this phenomenon.
During the ebb and flow of the tides—especially in the morning and afternoon—the crabs come out in swarms. When the tide recedes, tiny burrows appear across the wet sand, serving as the crabs’ homes.
As the sand moistens with the touch of the waves, they emerge in search of food.
For nature lovers, Pechardwip has become an irresistible destination.
Many photographers rush to the island at dawn each day, eager to capture the fleeting beauty of these red crabs darting across the beach—a dazzling reminder of Cox’s Bazar’s living connection to nature.
