Rows upon rows of vibrant green jhau trees have captivated countless visitors, offering a refreshing retreat for nature lovers. Just past the Rejukhal Bridge along the Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar, the jhau forest at Sonarpara Beach unfolds like a dreamscape, mesmerizing all who venture there.
Every day, hundreds of tourists arrive to spend some time amidst the serenity of this jhau forest. Posing for photos among the lush green trees or gently swaying on makeshift swings beneath their shade has become a favourite pastime for many.
Nishi, a college student visiting from Dhaka, shared: “It feels so peaceful here. Walking through the green forest and listening to the roar of the sea is an incredible experience.”
Local tourism operators say that the jhau forest at Sonarpara is gradually emerging as a new attraction, particularly for those seeking a calm and noise-free environment.
To enhance the tourist experience, plans are underway to install benches, hanging swings, and temporary cafes throughout the forest.
Beyond the traditional beaches of Cox’s Bazar, this tranquil jhau forest now offers tourists a unique and memorable experience.
