In Pekua, Cox’s Bazar, five individuals injured during the July uprising received financial assistance from the interim government’s Cultural Adviser, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. The check distribution ceremony was held at the Pekua Upazila Parishad auditorium on Saturday (May 31) at 3 PM. Each injured person received a check for 100,000 BDT.

The event was attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Mohammad Mofidur Rahman, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, Pekua Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Moinul Hossain Chowdhury, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nur Peyara Begum, and other senior administrative officials.

After distributing the checks, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki visited the home of Chittagong’s first martyr of the July uprising, Wasim Akram, where he met with family members and expressed his condolences and solidarity.

Meanwhile, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin visited the vulnerable sluice gate and jetty at Moghnama in Pekua. He assured that prompt repairs would be carried out to ensure safety and stability in the area.
