The final round of the traditional Boli Khela at Uttar Sonar Para village under Jaliapalong union in Ukhiya was held in a festive atmosphere on the third and final day of the event.

In the presence of thousands of spectators, Rashed Mal, a wrestler from Cumilla district, emerged as the champion of the competition.

The three-day traditional wrestling event, organised on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, created huge enthusiasm among the local people.

On the final day, spectators from different areas gathered at the venue, turning the field into a sea of people. The participating wrestlers thrilled the audience with their strength, technique, and skill.

The organisers said that the event was arranged every year to preserve rural heritage and culture, as well as to introduce traditional sports to the younger generation.

They added that Boli Khela continues to play an important role in making Eid celebrations more vibrant and meaningful.

Local young social worker Mahbub Kawser said, ‘The traditional Boli Khela of Uttar Sonar Para is not merely a sporting event; it is part of our rural culture and heritage.

Every year, this Eid-centred event spreads a message of harmony and joy among people. The presence of thousands of spectators proves that even in this modern age, people still love their roots and traditions.’

Alongside the wrestling competition, a fair and a Ferris wheel added to the festive mood in the area.

The presence of children, teenagers and visitors turned Uttar Sonar Para into a lively celebration ground.

Local people expressed hope that this traditional rural event would continue in the coming years and be organised on an even larger scale.
