Ramu Upazila thrashed Island Upazila Kutubdia 4–0 in the second District Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament match on Tuesday (September 2) at the Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium.

The match kicked off at 3:30 pm with Kutubdia fielding a youthful squad brimming with confidence.

Despite their energy and counterattacks, they struggled in the final third, lacking a clinical finisher. Ramu’s experience quickly turned the tide.

In the 22nd minute, national star and team captain Kaushik Barua broke the deadlock, dribbling into Kutubdia’s box and outsmarting goalkeeper Mitun Marma.

Ramu extended their lead with goals from Mobarak in the 34th minute and Kamal Barua of Bangladesh Police FC, who converted a penalty in the 43rd minute, sending Kutubdia into halftime trailing 3–0.

Kutubdia tried to recover in the second half but were denied by Ramu goalkeeper Shamim.

In the 71st minute, substitute Riduan sealed the win, netting Ramu’s fourth goal. Kutubdia’s woes deepened when Dablu Das was sent off with a red card, leaving the side weakened with 10 men.

Ramu captain Kaushik Barua was named Man of the Match and received a crest from district sports association officials, including member secretary Md. Alauddin, along with technical committee members Iqbal Mohammad Shamsul Huda Tidel, Afsar Uddin, Khorshed Alam, Sarwar Roman, Masud Alam, and Muhammad Hossain.

On Wednesday (September 3), Teknaf Upazila will face powerhouse Chakaria at 3 pm.
