Friday marks the weekly holiday, coinciding with the peak tourist season, and as a result, thousands of visitors are flocking to Cox’s Bazar beach every day.
During the winter, the beach remains notably calm, with tranquil, blue waters that captivate tourists.
Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the shoreline, indicating that the sea is safe for bathing.
Due to the colder weather, fewer people enter the water in the early morning. However, as soon as the sun comes out, tourists begin to enjoy swimming in the salty waves.
Most visitors are bathing at three designated points—Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha.
For safety reasons, the Sea Safe Lifeguard authority has urged tourists to strictly follow several guidelines.
According to the lifeguards, specific bathing zones have been clearly marked at these three points, where lifeguard services are actively provided.
Red-and-yellow flags clearly indicate the boundaries of these zones. Entering the sea outside the marked areas can be dangerous, they warned.
Mohammad Osman Gani, Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard of Sea Safe Lifeguard, told Cox’s Bazar Life, “The sea is currently very calm due to the winter season, which is why red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the beach.
However, to avoid any danger, tourists are advised to bathe only within the designated areas at these three points where lifeguard services are available, he added.
On Friday, low tide is expected at 3:20 pm, while high tide is expected to begin at 9:42 pm.
Authorities have also cautioned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguards’ instructions while entering the sea could lead to serious accidents at any time.
