The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas has intensified into Cyclone Fengal, moving north-northwest.
As a result, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has lowered local cautionary signal number 1 and issued distant warning signals for maritime ports.
According to a special weather bulletin (No. 9) issued on Friday, November 29, the cyclone remains over the same region while advancing gradually.
As of 3 PM, Cyclone Fengal was located approximately 1,635 km southwest of Chattogram Port, 1,585 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 1,510 km southwest of Mongla Port, and 1,512 km southwest of Payra Port.
The cyclone is expected to continue moving northwest and may cross the northern Tamil Nadu coast by tomorrow afternoon.
