Ripe mangoes are already being sold along Cox’s Bazar’s scenic Marine Drive, even though the local mango season has not officially begun. These juicy fruits are proving popular with tourists, many stopping their vehicles to make spontaneous purchases.

Vendors have set up temporary roadside stalls, selling mangoes at Tk 200 per kilogram. One seller said, “If you buy a bit more, I can offer Tk 20 off. But if it’s just one, it’s Tk 30 apiece.” Despite the slightly steep prices, the sales are brisk.

One tourist who tried the mangoes said, “They taste pretty good—sweet and flavorful. The price is a bit high, but the quality makes up for it.”

Locals suggest that the early mango sales could become a unique seasonal attraction for visitors.

However, questions are being raised about the fruit’s origin and quality. Observers say stricter monitoring by authorities could help streamline this early trade and ensure consumer safety.
