Eight women were honored in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, for their outstanding contributions to the tourism sector.
The recognition came through the Women Tourism Leaders Award, which celebrates women’s vital role and achievements in promoting tourism in the region.
The award ceremony, held on Thursday morning at Ukhiya Government Women’s College auditorium, was organized by the Cox’s Bazar Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, supported by Enroute and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
This year’s eight champions were: Umme Habiba Munni, Sumi Akter, Rahatil Ashekin Rahi, Jubaida Sultana Lovely, Nishita Barua Nishi, Nuri, Sanoara Akter, and Kohinur Akter.
Organizers noted that the recognition program was part of the Cox’s Bazar Tourism Development Project, implemented by the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Enroute International Limited, under ILO’s Enterprise Development initiative and the ISEC program.
More than 200 female students attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Jahanara Islam, President of the Cox’s Bazar Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The principal of Ukhiya Government Women’s College, Yakub Bhuiyan, joined as the chief guest.
