Cox’s Bazar, August 17, 2024: A wild elephant was electrocuted in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early Friday while searching for food. The incident occurred at Noakhali Para in the Baharchhara Union.
Amjad Hossain Khokon, Chairman of Baharchhara Union Parishad, confirmed the event. He explained that wild elephants have increasingly been entering human settlements due to a shortage of food in the hills. Early in the morning, the elephant accidentally touched an electrical wire while foraging among trees in the yard of a local resident.
