Cox’s Bazar hosted an awareness seminar on the Strengthened and Informative Migration Systems (SIMS) project for safe migration. The goal was to enhance understanding of government services for the rights and protection of remittance workers.
Prattyashi organized the seminar in the conference room of the Arunoday School in the presence of government and non-government officials, representatives from lawyers, and members of civil society.
The chief guest, Cox’s Bazar District Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, emphasized that remittance is the country’s second-largest source of income and highlighted the need to properly inform remittance workers, or “remittance warriors,” about their rights and the available government services to ensure their protection.
Prattyashi’s Executive Director, Monowara Begum, presided over the session, which featured remarks from several key officials and participants.
Speakers discussed topics such as preparing accurate and updated information for those planning to work abroad, raising awareness about legal migration, and providing essential training for returning migrants.
