Environmental activists have called for the swift implementation of the High Court’s directive to protect the vital Bankkhali River in Cox’s Bazar, otherwise, they will be forced to announce mass movement.
They were speaking at a dialogue on stopping the encroachment and pollution of Bankkhali river, organized by the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar city on Wednesday.
Munira Parvin, BELA’s Chittagong divisional coordinator, chaired the meeting, where speakers criticized the administration’s inaction in addressing the river’s encroachment and pollution.
They emphasized the urgency of implementing the court’s order, stressing that without immediate action, the environmentalists would be compelled to take drastic measures to ensure the river’s preservation.
