The Cox’s Bazar District Family Planning Committee on Sunday stressed the need to ensure regular health check-ups and uninterrupted maternal healthcare services for pregnant women living in flood-affected areas of the district.
The emphasis was placed at the committee’s monthly coordination meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md A Mannan in the deputy commissioner’s conference room, according to a press release.
The meeting, moderated by Deputy Director of the District Family Planning Department Biplob Barua, was attended by family planning officers from all upazilas, officials of the department and representatives of national and international development organisations.
Participants reviewed the progress of family planning, maternal and child healthcare and family welfare programmes across the district.
With flood-hit communities facing heightened health risks, the meeting called for effective measures to ensure regular antenatal check-ups, access to essential healthcare services, safe deliveries and emergency medical care for expectant mothers.
Participants also underscored the importance of stronger coordination between government agencies and non-governmental organisations to expand family planning and maternal health services in remote and flood-prone areas.
