The distribution of Farmer Cards and an agricultural input assistance programme were launched in Moheshkhali on Thursday, with farmers receiving the cards at an inaugural event.
The initiative was launched under the theme, “With a Farmer Card, services will reach farmers directly.”
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman formally inaugurated the programme virtually from Fulgazi upazila in Feni on Thursday (October 1).
Following the central inauguration, a local programme was held at the old conference hall of Moheshkhali Upazila Parishad, where Upazila Nirbahi Officer Imran Mahmud Dalim, Upazila BNP convener Abu Bakkar Siddique, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rubayet Ahmed, Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Gaffar and other relevant officials and farmers were present.
Officials handed over farmer cards to farmers at the programme.
Officials said the cards were introduced to ensure government agricultural assistance and farm inputs reach farmers more easily and directly.
Farmers were also briefed on the cards’ importance and the government support available through them.
Farmers said the cards would make receiving government assistance and agricultural inputs easier and more transparent.
