Standing tall on the sandy shores of Cox’s Bazar, a giant fish is collecting trash—not a real one, but an artistically crafted metal structure designed as a dustbin. Tourists and locals are using it to dispose of waste, adding a unique touch to the beach’s cleanliness efforts.

This initiative is part of BRAC’s “PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT PROJECT” (PLiZ), implemented in collaboration with the Cox’s Bazar Municipality.

The project is supported by the environmental organization SSEP, the World Bank, and UNOPS. Large banners have also been placed at Laboni Point to encourage proper waste disposal.

Both tourists and locals commend the initiative, highlighting the need for more installations of these dustbins to preserve the beach’s natural beauty.

The fish-shaped bins will serve a practical purpose and contribute to the aesthetic appeal of Cox’s Bazar, making waste disposal a more engaging and effective practice.
