With the onset of winter, dense fog has enveloped the night sky over Cox’s Bazar, lending the coastal city a distinctly different atmosphere.

From late night until early morning, thick layers of fog blanketed the city and its surroundings, blurring distant lights and significantly reducing visibility in many areas.

The fog-laden night created an unusual yet captivating ambience in the seaside city. Vehicles were seen moving cautiously through the mist along the sea beach, Laboni Point, Kolatoli, and the city’s main roads.

Streetlights, diffused through the fog, cast a soft glow, creating a visually striking scene.

Rohan, a tourist visiting from Dhaka, said he had never seen Cox’s Bazar like this before. “Standing by the sea and watching the play of light and shadow through the fog was truly fascinating,” he said. Another tourist noted that while the fog made the weather feel colder, it also made the Cox’s Bazar trip more memorable.

According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, such fog is a common phenomenon in coastal areas during winter due to higher humidity and falling temperatures. The fog density is usually higher during the latter part of the night and the early morning.

However, drivers were observed exercising extra caution on the roads during the early hours due to reduced visibility.

Locals said that while foggy nights add a new dimension to Cox’s Bazar’s beauty, increased awareness and careful driving are essential to avoid accidents.

Shrouded in fog, the silent night of Cox’s Bazar has become an enjoyable and memorable sight for many, showcasing yet another facet of the city’s natural charm.
