Farmers in Cox’s Bazar are busy harvesting potatoes from their fields as winter brings a bountiful yield. The new potatoes have fetched excellent market prices, bringing smiles to the farmers. While teams of workers actively engage in the harvest, wholesalers directly purchase the produce from the fields. Then, they transport these freshly harvested potatoes to various markets across Cox’s Bazar.

With the winter potato harvest in full swing, the produce is sold at Tk 70 to Tk 90 per kilogram, depending on size and variety. Vendors report that stable supplies have allowed them to offer the new potatoes at reasonable prices to meet market demand.

Farmers shared that the full-scale harvesting of new potatoes has not yet begun. A few farmers who planted early-season potatoes supply their produce to the markets.

The combination of a good yield and fair market prices is a promising sign for the agricultural economy in the region. Farmers and buyers alike are optimistic about the coming weeks as harvesting picks up pace.
