The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy (44–88 mm) to very heavy (above 88 mm) rainfall in parts of Cox’s Bazar and the Chattogram Division within the next 24 hours, starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The weather office stated that the active southwest monsoon over Bangladesh is likely to cause this spell of rain.

Due to the possibility of very heavy rainfall, there is a risk of landslides in some of the hilly areas of Cox’s Bazar.

Meanwhile, under the influence of the active monsoon, local cautionary signal No. 3 has been advised for the maritime ports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra. Fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
