Cox’s Bazar is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday, raising concerns over potential landslides in hilly regions, according to the local meteorological office.

Speaking on Sunday evening (July 28), Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Met Office, said parts of the district may receive between 44 and 88 millimetres of rainfall. He urged residents in hill areas to remain especially cautious.

He also warned that the intense rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and on roads, with flash floods from hill streams posing additional risks.

The public has been advised to avoid unnecessary movement in hilly terrain and to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and government instructions.
