Cox’s Bazar’s scenic Marine Drive is attracting tourists not just for its breathtaking views of the sea but also for its rows of roadside stalls selling freshly harvested hilly bananas.

Every day, thousands of travelers take this route to enjoy the sight of the hills and the sea—and many stop midway to taste the ripe, flavorful bananas, which have become a highlight of the journey.

Local vendors say that during the season, they sell an average of more than 200 bunches of bananas a day.

The comparatively low prices encourage tourists to purchase and enjoy them immediately.

These bananas, grown on the hilly slopes, are smaller in size but offer a distinct taste. Many visitors even stop to take photos of the colorful banana stalls and share them on social media.

One vendor said the bananas sold on Marine Drive are fresh and chemical-free, priced between Tk 5 and Tk 12 apiece.

Agriculture officials add that this growing trend benefits local farmers, who are seeing increased income thanks to tourism.
