A state-of-the-art sports facility, Cox’s Bazar Iconic Sports Arena, has been inaugurated at Mukterkul in Banglabazar under Jhilongja Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila, adjacent to the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway.
Spread across a vast area, the newly built turf field marks a new chapter for the district’s growing sports community.
The arena was officially inaugurated on Wednesday afternoon by District Sports Officer and Member Secretary of the Cox’s Bazar District Sports Association, Mohammad Alauddin.
Among others present were district sports association members, journalists Mahbubur Rahman and Mohammad Hossain, as well as local sports organizers and community leaders.
One of the main attractions of the arena is its artificial turf, imported from China, which is built to meet international standards.
The venue is suitable for hosting football and other sporting events.
For the comfort of players and spectators, the facility features modern dressing rooms, rest areas, advanced lighting systems, and enhanced security measures.
During the opening ceremony, District Sports Officer Mohammad Alauddin said, “The Cox’s Bazar Iconic Sports Arena is not just a playground—it’s a vital step towards keeping our youth away from drugs and mobile addiction. This initiative will inspire a new wave of sporting enthusiasm in the district.”
Entrepreneur Arif Mohammad Sagar, one of the key initiators of the project, added, “Our goal wasn’t merely to build a modern field, but to create an environment where young people can spend time in sports and healthy recreation. We also plan to add a swimming pool and a kids’ zone in the future.”
Local athletes and sports enthusiasts believe that the inauguration of such a modern turf field will play a significant role in promoting the sporting culture of Cox’s Bazar.
Known globally for its natural beauty, Cox’s Bazar is now emerging not only as a tourism hub but also as a center for sports and youth development.
