Bangladesh’s U-19 women’s cricket team secured a thrilling win over Pakistan in the second match of the ongoing five-match T20 series in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday, leveling the series. The red-and-green youngsters triumphed by three wickets in an exciting contest.
After winning the toss, Pakistan once again chose to bat first but struggled against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack from the outset. They managed only 80 runs for seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Komol Khan top-scoring for her side with 28 runs off 42 balls.
Bangladesh’s Habiba Islam Pinky delivered a brilliant bowling performance, taking four wickets for just 17 runs in four overs.
Bangladesh, chasing a modest target of 81 runs, stumbled early, losing the first wicket at four and the second at 31. However, a crucial 27-run partnership steadied the innings.
In the final two overs, needing 11 runs, Sadia Akter struck consecutive boundaries to guide her team to victory with three wickets in hand. Suborna Akter Sumaiya was the highest scorer for Bangladesh, contributing 32 runs off 38 balls.
One particular shot by Suborna became a visual highlight of the match: a perfectly timed stroke as a plane passed overhead, with the surrounding green pine trees swaying and the roar of the sea in the background.
The bright sunlight challenged Pakistan’s fielders, who dropped three catches.
This spirited win brought Bangladesh U-19 women back on level terms in the series.
