The intense heat has severely disrupted daily life in Cox’s Bazar, one of the country’s top tourist destinations. From the very start of the day, the scorching sun has left local residents feeling exhausted, while tourists visiting the city are also suffering from the extreme temperatures.

According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, the highest temperature recorded on Wednesday (May 7) was 35.2°C, with a relative humidity of 53%. Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan mentioned that this heatwave may persist for a few more days.

Many tourists flocked to the beach for a swim in an attempt to escape the oppressive heat. However, they noted that even the sea did not provide complete relief from the scorching heat.

Meanwhile, health experts are advising people to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary. They emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and recommended using umbrellas or hats when stepping outside.

Doctors have also urged extra caution for children and the elderly during this ongoing heatwave.
