Mohammad Ismail Hasan has been catching the attention of passers-by by selling flower saplings from a van parked by the roadside at markets in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

His van is neatly arranged with a variety of flower saplings, including marigold, rose, African marigold, chilibia, and other seasonal flowers. Alongside these, saplings of chilli, brinjal, and other vegetables are also on display.

Many of the flower saplings have already bloomed, adding vibrant colours to the van and drawing curious onlookers. Attracted by the colourful flowers, pedestrians often stop to take a closer look, with many purchasing saplings of their choice with enthusiasm.

Ismail Hasan stated that he owns Rayhan Nursery in the Muhuripara area of Rajapalong, Ukhiya. The nursery has a large collection of high-quality fruit, forest, and medicinal plant saplings, as well as grafted plants of various species.

He said that among the flower saplings sold from the van, marigolds are priced at Tk 30, roses at Tk 50, African marigolds at Tk 30, and chilibia flower saplings with blooms at Tk 80. Other plant saplings are being sold at prices not exceeding Tk 120.

Customers expressed satisfaction with the ability to buy flowers and plant saplings at affordable prices. Locals said that such initiatives enhance environmental beauty and set a positive example of self-employment and small-scale entrepreneurship.
