A youth-led organization is quietly reshaping the future in the heart of the coastal region of Ukhiya Upazila, where challenges like poverty, drug abuse, and limited access to opportunities often shape life — one initiative at a time.
Founded in 2018 by humanitarian and youth leader Mahabub Kawsar, the Hasi Mukh Youth and Social Development Foundation has emerged as a model of optimism and empowerment.
What began as a small voluntary effort has now grown into a dynamic nonprofit organization striving to build a self-reliant, prosperous, and socially responsible community.
Rooted in the principles of compassion and inclusivity, Hasi Mukh focuses on transforming the lives of underprivileged men and women across marginalized communities in Ukhiya.
With a mission to combat social degradation and promote sustainable development, the foundation tackles some of the most pressing issues in the region — particularly drug prevention and socio-economic empowerment.
“Our goal is not just to help people survive, but to empower them to thrive,” says Mr. Kawsar, whose personal commitment to youth engagement and humanitarian service has inspired dozens of volunteers and community members.
The foundation actively collaborates with government bodies and NGOs to implement community-driven development projects. These include vocational training for unemployed youth, awareness campaigns against drug abuse, education initiatives, and environmental programs aimed at climate resilience.
Aligning closely with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Hasi Mukh promotes quality education, peace, justice, and strong institutions; climate action; and partnerships for the goals.
It is not just an organization; it is a movement powered by people from all walks of life — from farmers and day laborers to students and individuals with disabilities.
What sets Hasi Mukh apart is its inclusiveness. It sees potential in every individual and engages the community at every level to ensure collective progress.
As Ukhiya continues to face socio-economic and environmental challenges, the tireless dedication of this youth-led foundation is lighting the way for a more just, peaceful, and empowered society.
In the words of one local beneficiary, “Hasi Mukh is more than an organization — it’s a family, a guide, and a hope for a better tomorrow.”
