Mangrove trees are rapidly spreading along the coastline of Cox’s Bazar, creating a natural green barrier beside the beach. One striking example can be seen near Pechar Dwip, along the scenic Marine Drive Road — where a vast stretch of newly grown mangroves now hugs the shoreline. Resident Fazal Hossain said that these mangrove trees have helped protect them from sea erosion. As sea levels rise and coastal erosion worsens in Bangladesh, the natural growth of mangroves around Cox’s Bazar is offering a line of defense.
