A low-pressure area has developed over the North Bay and adjoining regions, triggering gusty winds and squally weather concerns.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the system may cause strong winds over the North Bay, the country’s coastal areas, and maritime ports.

Cox’s Bazar Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan confirmed the development on Monday (22 September) afternoon.

In its advisory, the BMD asked Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra maritime ports to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.

Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Meteorologists cautioned that if the situation worsens, they might upgrade the signal and urged fishermen to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins.
