During the holy month of Ramadan, Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive—the scenic road stretching along the sea beach— appears noticeably quieter during the daytime. During Ramadan, the area is calm and beautiful, unlike the usual busy tourist and vehicle traffic.
Standing on the Marine Drive road in the morning or late afternoon offers a striking view: the blue waves of the sea on one side and rows of green hills on the other. With fewer vehicles on the road, the surrounding natural beauty becomes even more visible and serene.
Local resident Md Saiful Islam said that people tend to go out less during the daytime in Ramadan, leaving the Marine Drive relatively peaceful. “This allows visitors to enjoy the sea and the surrounding nature more closely,” he said.
Another visitor, Tanvir Ahmed, noted that the road is usually busy with traffic at other times of the year. “But during Ramadan, the environment feels calmer. The sound of the waves and the cool sea breeze bring a sense of peace,” he said.
Tourism insiders say that although the number of tourists declines slightly during Ramadan, nature lovers can experience a different side of Marine Drive. The quiet surroundings, combined with the sea, hills, and the long winding road, create an almost enchanting atmosphere.
In the tranquillity of Ramadan, Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive becomes a unique destination for those seeking the soothing beauty of nature.
