Cox’s Bazar is experiencing intense heat, leaving residents and visitors struggling in sweltering weather conditions.

Despite the weekly holiday, tourist turnout at the seaside remained comparatively low on Friday due to the extreme heat.

Red-and-yellow flags have been hoisted along the beach, indicating that the sea conditions are considered safe for bathing.

Many tourists sought relief from the heat by bathing in the salty waters of the Bay of Bengal.

Most visitors entered the sea at the Kolatoli, Laboni, and Sugandha points.

However, for safety reasons, Sea Safe Lifeguard authorities requested tourists to follow several instructions while bathing.

Lifeguards said that designated bathing zones had been marked at the three points where lifeguard services were available.

The boundaries of these safe zones were marked with red-and-yellow flags or red flags.

Tourists were warned that entering the water outside the marked areas could be dangerous.

Sea Safe Lifeguard supervisor and senior lifeguard Mohammad Osman Gani told Cox’s Bazar Life that the sea remained calm for now, although conditions could change within the next few days.

He said that while the red-and-yellow flags indicated generally safe bathing conditions, several holes and channels had formed in parts of the beach, posing risks to swimmers.

To avoid accidents, he advised tourists to bathe only in designated areas with lifeguard services.

According to the tide schedule for Friday, low tide was expected at 2:53 pm, while high tide was forecast to begin from 8:51 pm.

Authorities also warned that ignoring warning signals or lifeguard instructions could lead to serious accidents at any time.
