The International Workers’ Day 2026 and National Occupational Health and Safety Day were observed in Cox’s Bazar with colourful and meaningful programmes.

The district administration and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments jointly organised the events.

The day began with the release of balloons, marking the formal inauguration of the program. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring workers’ rights and safe working conditions.

Later, representatives from various labour organisations, employers, shop owners’ associations, restaurant owners, and business leaders participated in a rally. The procession commenced at the deputy commissioner’s office, traversed the Gumgachhtola area, and concluded at the same location.

A discussion meeting was also held at the conference room of the district administration. Leaders of different labour organisations spoke at the event, raising various demands to ensure workers’ rights, safety, and welfare.

As part of the programme, financial assistance in the form of cheques was distributed among seven workers suffering from different illnesses.
