Persistent monsoon rain has transformed Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive into a lush green landscape, with rain-washed hillsides and vibrant vegetation creating a striking contrast with the rough waters of the Bay of Bengal.
The scenic coastal road, one of the district’s most popular attractions, has taken on a fresh look as continuous rainfall has rejuvenated the surrounding hills and forests. The combination of the turbulent sea on one side and mist-covered green hills on the other has drawn nature lovers despite the wet weather.
During the monsoon, Marine Drive offers a distinctly different experience, with dark clouds overhead, intermittent showers, drifting mist along the hillsides and the sound of crashing waves creating a dramatic coastal atmosphere.
‘Marine Drive looks completely different during the monsoon,’ said Rahul, a tourist visiting the area. ‘The rain-soaked green hills, fresh air and rough sea together create a breathtaking landscape. It is an experience that keeps drawing us back.’
Local residents said the area’s natural beauty is at its best during the rainy season. However, they advised visitors to travel with caution as continuous rainfall has made parts of the road slippery.
They also urged travellers to avoid lingering near hill slopes because of the risk of landslides and to check the latest weather forecast before setting out.
