Cox’s Bazar-3 (Sadar-Ramu-Eidgaon) MP Lutfor Rahman Kazal took part in several programmes in the district on Monday, including the distribution of hygiene kits among schoolchildren and a free medical camp.
In the morning, Kazal distributed UNICEF hygiene kits among students at Khurushkul Time Bazar Primary School.
He later visited a free medical camp organised at Khurushkul Union Parishad, where he also took part in a programme declaring Khurushkul a child-marriage-free area.
Later, the lawmaker distributed UNICEF kit boxes in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila and handed over cheques to meritorious students at Kharulia Government Children’s Family.
Kazal said everyone should work together to ensure children’s health, education and safety.
“Child marriage is a social problem. Families, educational institutions, elected representatives and the administration need to play a more aware and effective role in preventing it,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of developing hygiene practices among students and continuing necessary support to help meritorious and disadvantaged children pursue their education.
Local elected representatives, government officials, teachers, doctors, guardians and other stakeholders attended the day-long programmes.
