The 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Mukti Cox’s Bazar was held on Saturday (September 19) at the Conference Room of the organisation’s headquarters, Mukti Bhaban, located in Goldighirpar in Cox’s Bazar.
The meeting was presided over by Santosh Sharma, President of the Executive Committee of Mukti Cox’s Bazar, and moderated by Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker, Chief Executive of the organisation. The AGM commenced with the national anthem, followed by an introductory session. In his welcome address, President Santosh Sharma said, “Mukti Cox’s Bazar has remained steadfast in pursuing the same path, even after three decades, that it embarked upon with the goal of promoting human welfare.”
One of the organization’s founding members, Professor Someswar Chakravorty, said in his goodwill speech, “Mukti Cox’s Bazar was established with the objective of eliminating illiteracy, poverty, inequality and backwardness.” Meanwhile, Advocate Shibu Lal Debdas, Adviser to Mukti Cox’s Bazar, called on the staff to remain committed to the principles of honesty, justice, and humanitarian service as they carry out their responsibilities with greater dedication.
Shormin Siddiqua Lima, General Secretary of the Executive Committee, presented the minutes of the 30th Annual General Meeting and the Annual Report-2026. Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker, Chief Executive of Mukti Cox’s Bazar, presented the organization’s Audit Report-2026. Then, the President presented the minutes of the 30th AGM, the Annual Report-2026, the Audit Report-2026, and the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year to the members of the General Committee for approval, which were approved unanimously.
Subsequently, the Project Managers/Coordinators of the organization’s 16 ongoing projects presented illustrated reports highlighting the activities, achievements and progress of their respective projects. At this stage, the committee held an open question-and-answer session on the achievements and progress of the projects presented. During the session, the members of the General and Executive Committees shared their valuable opinions and suggestions. Among others, distinguished members of the General and Executive Committees also addressed the gathering.
At this year’s Annual General Meeting, the invited guest, Mohammad Shahi Newaz, Deputy Director of the Cox’s Bazar District Social Services Office, said, “Each of the projects being implemented by Mukti Cox’s Bazar is contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and complementing the efforts of the Government of Bangladesh.” Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Assistant Director (Registration and Control) of the Department of Social Services, Dhaka, also said, “Mukti Cox’s Bazar is one of the most distinctive humanitarian and development organisations I have come across. Mukti is exceptional in terms of transparency and accountability.”
It is worth noting that the 31st Annual General Meeting concluded with the election of a new seven-member Executive Committee of Mukti Cox’s Bazar for the next three-year term (01 October 2026–30 September 2029). Members of the General and Executive Councils, members of Mukti Cox’s Bazar’s Senior Management Committee, project coordinators, and more than 100 staff members also attended the meeting.
