Located 7 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar town, Nazirartek is a vital hub for Bangladesh’s dry fish industry. This area, part of Ward No. 1 under the Cox’s Bazar municipality, is home to the country’s largest dry fish processing zone.
Known as the region’s dry fish processing unit, Nazirartek spans 100 acres of coastal land. Production takes place year-round, except during the monsoon season. This massive operation regularly yields around 200 tons of dry fish, making it a cornerstone of the country’s seafood industry.
The dry fish sector in Nazirartek employs approximately 5,000 workers, while 30,000 fishermen from Cox’s Bazar district supply the fish. The processed dry fish is sold across the country and exported abroad, contributing significantly to the local economy and national trade.
