After a two-year hiatus, a new partial committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has been announced for Cox’s Bazar.
The six-member committee, declared by the central unit, names Fahimur Rahman as president and Saeed Anwar as general secretary. Mohammad Hossain Madu has been made senior vice-president, Zahed Nur Jitu senior joint general secretary, Syed Muhammad Salman Bappi joint general secretary, and Ashraf Imran organisational secretary.
The announcement has sparked enthusiasm among grassroots leaders and activists. On Monday, a large number of supporters gathered at Cox’s Bazar Airport to welcome the new leadership, receiving president Fahimur Rahman with flowers.
Following the reception, hundreds of activists took part in a procession that marched through major roads in the town before concluding at the district BNP office.
Fahimur Rahman said the committee would work to justify their confidence by strengthening the organization through unity. General Secretary Saeed Anwar said the excitement among grassroots members after a long gap serves as strong motivation, and they aim to make the organization more dynamic.
Participants in the procession expressed their hope that the new leadership would revitalise organisational activities and meet the expectations of grassroots members.
