In response to long-standing passenger demand, two new trains—Probal Express and Saikat Express—will begin operating on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route from February 1. According to Kamal Akhter Chowdhury, Additional Chief Operating Superintendent of the Eastern Railway, these trains will operate four times a day between the two destinations, except on Mondays, their weekly day off.
The trains will stop at various stations along the route to allow passenger boarding and disembarkation.
ABM Kamruzzaman, Divisional Railway Manager of the Chattogram region, stated, “There is a significant demand for train services on the Cox’s Bazar route. Currently, a single pair of trains operates between Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar, but there has been no dedicated service for the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar segment. To meet passenger needs, we’ve introduced these two pairs of trains.”
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity and promote tourism in Cox’s Bazar, making the journey more accessible and convenient for travelers.
