In nine districts in the country’s southeast that were impacted by flooding, about 928,000 customers are currently without electricity.
Almost 441,000 consumers in Feni, the hardest-hit area, are without electricity as a result of the shutdown of 17 substations, according to statistics from the Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Mineral Resources.
Chandpur, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Chittagong, Comilla, Cox’s Bazar, Moulvibazar, and Brahmanbaria are among the other districts impacted.
In these eight districts, 107 out of 905 feeders—distribution lines that carry power from substations to customers—have been taken down, although no substations have been closed.
The data shows that 218,000 customers in Noakhali, 152,000 in Comilla, 78,000 in Chittagong, and 25,000 in Lakshmipur are currently without electricity.
Meanwhile, eighteen people died and over 4.9 million people have been affected as the ongoing flood hit 77 upazilas in 11 districts of the country.
