Industries Secretary Obaidur Rahman has assured that there will be no salt crisis during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. He made the statement on Sunday (May 11) during a meeting at the Cox’s Bazar District Administration Conference Room.

Secretary Rahman stressed the country’s sufficient salt reserves and said the government is working on a new salt policy to protect the industry’s interests. The policy will prioritize fair pricing, easy loan access for salt farmers, and other supportive measures.

He also stated that the government will develop a digital database of salt farmers to curb the influence of middlemen. Furthermore, he confirmed that there will be no salt imports this year due to adequate local reserves, safeguarding farmers from financial losses.
