Cox’s Bazar clinched the title in the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament, defeating Cumilla 1-0 in a thrilling final held on Sunday (May 11) at the packed Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

This marks the third time the Cox’s Bazar district football team has lifted the coveted trophy. The match-winning goal came in the 44th minute from striker Amir Hakim Bappi, who wore jersey number 19. Bappi unleashed a powerful strike from outside the Cumilla penalty box, sealing the victory for the home side.

The prize-giving ceremony followed the final match, presided over by Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin. Cabinet Division Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid attended the event as the chief guest. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin delivered the welcome speech, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Imran Hossain Sajib, District Sports Officer, and DSA Member Secretary Md. Alauddin was also addressing the gathering.

The chief guest later handed over trophies to the champion and runner-up teams.

Eleven district teams across the Chattogram Division participated in this highly anticipated tournament. Cox’s Bazar’s goalkeeper Saeedi was named “Player of the Tournament,” while midfielder Kaushik Barua was awarded “Player of the Final” for his standout performance.
