Cox’s Bazar fruit shops are now seeing an increased supply of pineapples from Bandarban.
A local vendor reported that large pineapples fetch a price of Tk 70–80 each, while smaller and medium-sized pineapples fetch a price of Tk 40–50.
Alongside Bandarban’s harvest, pineapples from the hill tracts of Rangamati—available from May through September—also reach the local markets regularly.
Fruit traders explained that large-scale pineapple cultivation occurs in Madhupur, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, and Sylhet. As a result, markets across the country now enjoy year-round availability.
During this peak season, growers secure better prices, while wholesalers purchase pineapples in bulk to supply outlets in Cox’s Bazar.
The prime pineapple season, when yields are at their highest, usually lasts from mid-Jaishtha to mid-Bhadra (June to August), according to agricultural sources. However, early-ripening varieties are also cultivated in some regions.
