The Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway has witnessed a worrying rise in road accidents, resulting in both casualties and significant property damage, turning the route into what some are calling a “death trap.” I
In response, a petition has been filed urging authorities to expand the highway lanes and make the road safer for travelers.
On Monday (September 1), Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Nawroj Mohammad Rasel Chowdhury filed the petition, requesting that the relevant authorities take immediate measures to increase lanes and improve road safety along this critical highway.
During the hearing, a High Court Division bench, comprising Justice Zinat Haque and Justice Ainun Nahar Siddique, issued a rule and directed the authorities to report within four months on the steps taken.
The petitioner in the case is Supreme Court lawyer Tahsin Moktar Nishan.
