A failure in the national grid’s 132 kv transmission line has triggered a massive power outage across the southern regions of Bangladesh, including Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar. According to sources at the Power Division, the disruption began on Friday morning.

The sudden blackout has deepened public suffering as the country grapples with an intense and ongoing heatwave. The Cox’s Bazar power office confirmed that a technical fault in the grid caused the outage, and technical teams are working to restore the supply as quickly as possible.

Shops, businesses, and hospitals have reported operational disruptions. Officials could not confirm when power would be fully restored.
