According to the Eastern Railway authority, two passenger trains, ‘Probal Express’ and ‘Shaibal Express, ’ will operate on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar rail route starting next year.
The railway authorities confirmed that the currently operating ‘Cox’s Bazar Special’ will become a permanent service, alongside a second train set to launch at the beginning of the new year. Together, these trains will make four round trips daily.
Kamal Akhtar Hossain, Assistant Chief Operating Superintendent of the Eastern Railway, stated that Cox’s Bazar Special will be a permanent service. Additionally, the new train will enhance connectivity on the route, catering to growing passenger demand.
At morning service, the train will depart Chattogram at 6:30 AM and arrive at Cox’s Bazar at 10:00 AM. It will return from Cox’s Bazar at 10:20 AM and reach Chattogram at 2:15 PM.
The train will depart Chattogram at 2:45 PM for afternoon service and arrive at Cox’s Bazar at 6:35 PM. It will return from Cox’s Bazar at 7:00 PM and reach Chattogram at 10:30 PM.
The sector people said that with these new trains, the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route is expected to offer a more efficient and comfortable travel experience, fostering tourism and boosting local economic activities.
