A rare 4-kilogram Bala fish was caught in the fishing net of local fisherman Jasim Hossain near the Mongla Para fishing village coast in Ukhiya on Monday morning. Jasim said the fish was trapped in his net while he was fishing in the sea earlier that day.
“This kind of large Bala fish is very uncommon,” said Jasim Hossain. “Catching one like this is pure luck. In the market, the price of this fish can reach up to Tk 1,000 per kilogram.”
He added that several large Tuitta fish were also caught in his net that day, which sold at a good price in the local market.
According to local residents, such large and rare marine fish are rarely seen in the coastal waters of Mongla Para. The catch has sparked quite a stir in the area, drawing curious onlookers from nearby villages.
