The vast blue waters and endless sandy shores of Cox’s Bazar offer a unique thrill: the joy of riding along the beach on horseback, with the waves crashing nearby and the sea breeze on your face. Horseback rides have become a popular beach activity here, offering visitors an exciting way to experience the beauty of the world’s longest natural sea beach.
At Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points, these joyful rides are available for Tk 100–200, while Inani and Patuartek also offer similar experiences for beachgoers.
Madrasah students Mohammad Moinul Haque and Arif Hossain had long dreamed of riding a horse along the sea. The moment they got a holiday from their madrasah, they rushed to Cox’s Bazar to fulfil that wish. Standing at the shore, they finally met the horses they had imagined, and as they rode along the beach, they soaked in the breathtaking view of the vast sea from the saddle.
Their ride was guided by Mohammad Miraj, the horse owner, who typically charges tourists visiting from Dhaka Tk 200–300 per ride. However, learning that the boys were local students, he agreed to offer them the ride for just Tk 100 after a brief, friendly negotiation.
“Tourists from Dhaka easily pay Tk 200–300 for a ride, but since they are local students, I gave them the ride for Tk 100,” Miraj explained.
Riding a horse while the gentle breeze brushes against your face, with the rolling waves chasing you from behind, creates a memory to cherish—a moment of pure joy etched into the young riders’ lives.
Cox’s Bazar is becoming a favourite not just for its natural beauty but also for the wide range of joyful experiences it offers to visitors. Among these, the simple yet thrilling horseback rides are carving out a special place in the hearts of those who come to experience the sea.
