The Cox’s Bazar coastline has turned rough as rain continues to pour, accompanied by strong winds, since yesterday and throughout the morning today. Due to the inclement weather, the Meteorological Department has advised hoisting local cautionary signal No. 3.
Md Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Weather Office, said, “Thunderclouds are forming over the North Bay due to active monsoon, accompanied by significant pressure differences in the atmosphere. Under these conditions, heavy to very heavy rainfall and gusty winds may sweep across the North Bay, coastal areas of Bangladesh, and its seaports over the next three days.”
Given this, the Met Office has asked the seaports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3, he added.
He further said that all fishing boats and trawlers over the Bay of Bengal have been advised to remain near the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
